At Red Rock Auto Center, our local mechanics are highly experienced with clutch repair in the greater Sedona, AZ area.

Warning Signs of Clutch Trouble

Problems with the clutch pedal often make it apparent to drivers that something is awry with the clutch. One example is that your clutch pedal feels sticky, which could mean that linkage springs have become overstretched. And if your clutch pedal feels spongy, then you may have a problem with your release bearing or clutch fork. Because your clutch fork is integral to the proper engaging and disengaging of your clutch, issues with it should be quickly taken care of. You may also have a clutch fork problem if your clutch pedal is really noisy when you step down on it or let up on it. A heavily vibrating clutch pedal is another cause for concern. This may indicate an issue with the pilot bearing, flywheel, or clutch disc lining. Your clutch pedal might start vibrating if the clutch disc lining isn’t properly gripping the flywheel.

Along with clutch pedal issues, there are some other common symptoms of clutch trouble that you’ll want to be mindful of. A burning smell could indicate that you have a significant clutch problem. This could mean that your clutch plate has become very worn-down and your clutch is overheating. Grinding is another indication of trouble. This may mean that your clutch disc isn't correctly disengaging. Grinding may also occur due to problems with the pressure plate or throw-out bearing.
